To the 135th anniversary of Sergey Prokofiev, the company “Melodiya”movedIn digital format, the record includes his childhood compositions. The original recording was released in 1991 and included both early works of a very young composer and music written for children in adulthood. The performer was Aleksandr Banshchiev, pianist, professor of the chamber ensemble and quartet department at the Moscow Conservatory.
The record contains early pieces by Prokofiev, created from 1901 to 1906. The young author called his miniatures “Songs,” among which there are works of various genres, including a march, a minuet, and a waltz. The title is explained by the use of the song form in the piece, which was suggested to Prokofiev by his teacher — composer Reinhold Glière. The recording also includes the cycle “Children’s Music,” written in 1935, in which the composer nostalgically recalls childhood.
