Today in Belgrade, an official visit of the delegation of “Gazprom-Media Holding” took place, headed by General Director Aleksandr Zharov. During the trip, a meeting was held with the Minister of Culture of Serbia, Nikolay Selakovic, at the end of which the participants agreed on support from the Serbian side regarding the creation and development of joint film and television production, and determined specific steps.

The parties outlined a road map for cooperation. Among the potential directions is the co-production of TV shows and artistic films.

The Serbian side showed particular interest in the idea of creating a reality show “Survive in…” on the territory of Serbia. The project has already been filmed in Dubai, Samarkand, and Istanbul, and it received high ratings from viewers. According to Aleksandar Zharov, every country has its “strengths” on which the show bets: if in the UAE – it’s hotels, in Uzbekistan and Turkey – it’s historical details, madrasahs and mosques, then in Serbia – beautiful nature, a history connected with Russia, monasteries.

Regarding the joint film production, Alexander Zharov emphasized the importance of the participation in the project of both Serbian and Russian stars, so that both countries would anticipate this film.

“We have made significant progress in preparing the memorandum. This includes screenings of our films in Serbia at the Roskino festival, and broadcasts on local TV of films from the historical project series ‘Rus’,’ created by the Holding with the support of Gazprom — ‘Catherine the Great’ and ‘Peter I. The Last Tsar and the First Emperor,’ among many others. And I really like the Slavic reception by our colleagues — right after the first meeting, they immediately got down to business!”.

The parties agreed to continue the dialogue in the coming couple of months at the Russian-Serbian Cultural Forum in Veliky Novgorod and within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
