Students of the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering took part in the 5th Moscow student DATA-Hackathon, organized by the Moscow City Pedagogical University (MGPU). The organizers received more than 30 applications in total, and 20 teams from 19 universities were selected for the final stage. The in-person final took place on April 17–18 at MGPU.
The geography of Sakatoon turned out to be quite broad: among the participants were representatives from Altai Krai, Vladimir, Kazan, Minsk, Moscow, and Saint Petersburg. Leading companies of the IT industry acted as partners, including Loginom, ArenaDATA, Rostelecom, and DataFabrika.
In the final, participants had to solve a practice-oriented task from the general partners related to the analysis of large sets of real data. The work included collecting information from open sources, its cleaning, comprehensive analysis, and visualization of results. This format allowed students to get as close as possible to real business tasks and apply knowledge in the fields of data analysis, artificial intelligence, and programming.
SPBGASU was represented by the team “Ctrl-Alt-Delete”, prepared within the framework of the student educational project Code.ak. It included students from the Department of Information Technology and Mathematical Modeling (TIMM)Vladimir Bulykin(second course),Anastasia Ryazanova(second course) andKirill Astashov(first year). Scientific supervisor – assistant of the TIMM departmentTimofey Razboynikov.
Our students received a case from the company Loginom, dedicated to analyzing the effectiveness of Russian universities. The task was based on monitoring data of educational institutions since 2015, as well as the ranking of the top 100 Russian universities for 2026. During the work, the team identified key parameters affecting the universities’ inclusion in the ranking and proposed recommendations for improving their positions. The project results can be foundby the link.
Participation in the DATA-hackathon became valuable experience for students in teamwork and solving applied tasks in the field of data analysis. Congratulations to the participants on their successful performance and we wish them further achievements!
