Washington, April 22 /Xinhua/ — U.S. Vice President Jay Di Vance, who was supposed to go to Pakistan on Tuesday to conduct new negotiations with Iran, as of noon Tuesday was still in Washington, which raised doubts about the possibility of reaching a peace agreement between the two sides before the expiration of the two-week ceasefire period.
J. D. Vance’s trip was postponed, and on Tuesday morning he participated in a political meeting in the White House, numerous American media reported with reference to White House officials.
In the absence of a response from Iran, the diplomatic process has effectively been suspended, but G. D. Vance’s trip was not canceled, the New York Times reported with reference to US officials.
The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Esmail Baghaei, stated on air on a late Tuesday evening local time that Tehran has not yet decided whether to participate in a new round of peace talks, as it is disappointed by “ambiguous messages” from Washington. –0–
