At the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great, the traditional spring “Donor Day” took place. This year, the event became an anniversary, being held for the twentieth time. Students, teachers, and staff of the university united to help those in need of blood transfusions.

The event took place again in the space of “Polite Tower.” The organizers were the headquarters of the student squads of Polite, the university’s social programs department, and the City Blood Transfusion Station.

Key results of two days:

  • 159 people came to the blood donation point;
  • 126 people became donors;
  • 35 participants joined the Federal Bone Marrow Donor Registry.

The twentieth campaign is a special milestone for us. We see how year after year the number of people wishing to donate blood and join the bone marrow donor registry grows. This time, 35 people made an important decision that could save someone’s life. Thanks to every donor, volunteer, and medic — without you this result would have been impossible. Donor Day at Polytech is not just an event, but a tradition that we cultivate and develop together.“,— shared the main organizer of the event Polina Ursegova.

Throughout the entire event, the safety and comfort were monitored by more than 30 volunteers, as well as a professional team of medics.

“Donor Day” is held in Politech twice a year — in spring and autumn. During this time, thousands of Polytech students have contributed to the development of the donor movement in Saint Petersburg. The anniversary event became yet another confirmation of the high level of social responsibility at the university.
