At the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great, the traditional spring “Donor Day” took place. This year, the event was a jubilee, held for the twentieth time. Students, teachers, and university staff united to help those in need of a blood transfusion.
The event took place again in the space of the “Polytech Tower”. The organizers were the headquarters of the student squads of Polytech, the Department of Social Programs of the university, and the City Blood Transfusion Station.
Key results of two days:
- 159 people came to the blood donation point;
- 126 people became donors;
- 35 participants joined the Federal Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
The twentieth donation is a special milestone for us. We see how year after year the number of people wishing to donate blood and join the bone marrow donor registry is growing. This time, 35 people made an important decision that could save someone’s life. Thanks to every donor, volunteer, and medic — without you, this result would have been impossible. Donor Day in Politse is not just an event, but a tradition that we have long had and continue to develop together.
, — shared the main organizer of the event Polina Ursegova.
Throughout the entire event, more than 30 volunteers, as well as a professional team of medics, monitored safety and comfort.
“Donor Day” is held in Politeh twice a year — in spring and autumn. During this time, thousands of Politeh students have contributed to the development of the donor movement in Saint Petersburg. The anniversary event became yet another confirmation of the high level of social responsibility at the university.
