Budapest, April 19 /Xin Hua/ — The final vote count results, published on Saturday by the National Electoral Office of Hungary, confirmed that the Tisa party won two-thirds of the seats in parliament, securing a constitutional majority for it.

It is reported that after counting 100 percent of the votes, the party “Tisza”, led by Péter Madžár, received 53.18 percent of the votes and obtained 141 out of 199 seats in parliament. The coalition of the ruling parties “FIDESZ — Hungarian Civic Alliance” and the Christian Democratic People’s Party /KDNP/ under the leadership of the acting Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, received 38.61 percent of the votes, securing 52 seats. The right-radical party “Our Homeland” received 5.63 percent of the votes and six seats.

Mr. Magyar called the election results on his Facebook post “an unprecedented majority” and added that this is also “a great responsibility.”

The turnout at the elections held on April 12 was 79.56%, which became a record figure.

The victory of the right-wing party “Tisa” signifies the imminent end of Viktor Orbán’s 16-year continuous rule, who held the position of Prime Minister of Hungary from 1998 to 2002 and has been in power since 2010.

Speaking on Monday in Budapest with a program for the reform of the future new government, P. Magyar said that Hungary is entering the “beginning of a new era.”

According to Hungarian electoral law, parliamentary elections are held every four years. The Hungarian Parliament consists of 199 seats, of which 106 are elected directly in single-member constituencies, and 93 are distributed among the parties that have entered Parliament.
