On October 17, a military-historical musical festival “Battle of the Orchestras” will take place in the Hall of Commanders at the Victory Museum. The event is organized jointly with the Moscow Regional Branch of the Russian Military Historical Society. Entry is by tickets to the Victory Museum.

The festival “Battle of the Orchestras” is dedicated to preserving historical memory, fostering patriotic education among youth, and strengthening the connection between different generations of Russians. It is not just a concert, but a live lecture on the country’s history. By performing pieces, the artists express respect for the past and help the younger generation feel a connection to the past and a sense of involvement in the country’s fate.

Music as a chronicle of military glory

Performances by the military brass bands of the Moscow Military District will take the form of a concert-lecture. Among the participants is the military band of the 154th Separate Commandant Preobrazhensky Regiment — a group that continues the traditions of the military band service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and the military band of the 147th Automotive Base of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation — one of the district’s leading creative ensembles with a half-century history. A special place in the program will be occupied by the Military Exemplary Honor Guard Band, which will celebrate its 70th anniversary this year.

In addition, the Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Moscow Military District will perform — a professional group with a rich history, founded in 1939 on the initiative of Marshal Semyon Budyonny. The program will be complemented by the ensemble “Young Patriots” — a union of talented children and youth who represent the country on various platforms.

The soloists of the festival will be well-known musicians. They will present vocal and instrumental performances, as well as stories about traditions.

The lectures will be delivered by military historians and musicologists. Among them are Major Anton Malyutin, a candidate of art studies and associate professor of the Department of Military Band Service at the Military Institute (military conductors) of the Military University, as well as Roman Korsun, the announcer of the Moscow cadet movement parade. Leading specialists in the military band service and veterans acted as consultants during the preparation of the materials. Thanks to their involvement, the musical numbers will be accompanied by informative explanations revealing the connection between music, historical events, and military traditions.

Alongside the concert program, tours of the exhibitions “The Road to Victory” and “The Battle for Moscow. The First Victory!” are organized. They will enliven the music with visual images and help to deeply feel the scale of the events and the role of the defenders of the capital.

A large-scale project is presented on the portal mos.ru special project, dedicated to the development of key sectors of Moscow.
