In six months, passengers have made more than 11.5 million trips on the second Moscow tram diameter (T2).

Route T2 has been operating for six months. It connects the southern and eastern districts of the capital, passing through the city center. The diameter’s length is 33 kilometers. Trams run from the Chertanovskaya metro station to the Novogireevo station. Moscow Central Diameters (MCD), providing convenient transfers to other types of urban and railway transport.

“By the order of Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to develop the capital’s tram network based on the principle of an above-ground street metro. In six months of operation, the T2 line has carried out more than 11.5 million rides, with peak daily traffic reaching 85 thousand rides. This confirms the demand for Moscow tram diameters among city residents. We will continue working to improve the comfort of trips and the quality of passenger service,” noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

Maxim Liksutov.

Route T2 passes through 13 districts located in five administrative okrugs of Moscow. Passengers can transfer to 31 metro stations, Moscow Central Circle, the MCC and the railway, as well as to four railway stations — Leningradsky, Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, and Paveletsky.

Modern fully low-floor trams of Russian production — “Lʹvenok-Moscow” and “Vityaz-Moscow” — operate on the line. The interval between arrivals is six minutes. Thanks to modern equipment and comfortable tram interiors, comfort is ensured for passengers. In addition, it is possible to see the city’s landmarks and the streets of central Moscow from the tram windows.

Moscow tram diameters operate on the principle of a ground-level street metro: with short intervals, modern cars, and convenient transfers. The project contributes to the formation of new direct connections between districts of the capital and increases the accessibility of urban transport.
