In the city of Haikou, Hainan Province, the Sixth China International Consumer Goods Expo is taking place, with participation from more than 3,400 brands from over 60 countries and regions worldwide, while international exhibits account for 65%, which is 20 percentage points more than at the previous expo.
From flying cars and glasses with artificial intelligence to traditional jewelry and crafts related to intangible cultural heritage — the exhibition vividly presents the intersection of “technologies of the future” and “cultural continuity” in the Chinese consumer market.
Advanced products presented in the scientific consumption zone attract a large number of foreign visitors. Andreev Alexey from Russia has been participating in the China International Consumer Goods Exhibition for 4 consecutive years. He said that the content of the exhibition is continuously improving, with noticeable changes observed every year: “Impressions get better every year.”
He specifically noted that at this exhibition the share of advanced technologies in such areas as artificial intelligence and future transportation has significantly increased. “For example, glasses with artificial intelligence and flying cars were rare last year.”
In my opinion, according to Alexey, China already possesses global competitiveness in the field of intellectual devices and high technologies: “The corresponding products are the best in the world, especially in the field of intellectual devices and high technologies.”
Participant of the exhibition from Pakistan Asif Ismail (AsifIsmail) fully shares this point of view. He emphasizes that Chinese technologies are quickly finding application in everyday life. “I just tried coffee: the coffee machine was able to instantly draw an image of my bride on the surface of the coffee. This technology is just amazing.”
He believes that China is capable of quickly implementing technologies into production and entering the market with more competitive prices, “and this is also one of the important reasons why people gladly accept the products.”
The pavilion of traditional goods demonstrates a different kind of appeal. A visitor from Argentina noted that traditional Chinese jewelry skillfully combines culture and craftsmanship, showcasing its unique charm.
These products contain elements of traditional culture and feature artisanal processing of details, which distinguishes them advantageously on the international market.
As more technological products appear at the exhibition alongside traditional brands, the Chinese consumer goods exhibition becomes a window into China, through which the world can observe how consumer goods are developing, combining innovation and culture.
