Hanchzhou, April 16 /Xinhua/ — The 15th China International Gardening Exhibition opened on Wednesday in the city of Wenzhou (Zhejiang Province, East China), demonstrating the country’s commitment to environmentally friendly urban transformation.
Being the largest and most influential international event in the field of landscape design in China, this exhibition has, since its founding in 1997, transformed from a flower exhibition into a comprehensive platform uniting ecological restoration, urban renewal, and cultural heritage.
This year, the exhibition, in particular, uses environmentally clean and low-carbon technologies, coordinating the renewal of cities with the development of expo parks. Special attention is paid to public participation, and citizens are invited as co-builders.
More than 600 events are planned, dedicated to four main topics: environmental initiative, cultural revival, industrial modernization, and international dialogue, which will allow creating new scenarios that combine the exhibition with tourism, youth, everyday life, and technologies.
Since the start of the trial operation on February 14, the main site – the “Wenchzhou Garden Expo” park – has welcomed more than 2.18 million visitors, which averages 40 thousand people per day.
On the first day of the exhibition, the “Wenzhouskaya Declaration” was announced, which proclaims the inevitability of human-centered urban development and environmental protection, and also proposes to study the Chinese approach to the construction of modern cities for people. -0-
