A total of 34 teams from Moscow will participate in the international championship “Battle of Robots,” the qualifying rounds of which will take place from October 6 to 10 at Moskino film studio, subordinate to the capital’s Department of Culture.
The capital will be represented by 15 teams in the category of robots weighing up to 110 kilograms and another 19 teams in the mini-robots category up to one and a half kilograms. A total of 144 teams from 11 countries will compete for a place in the semifinals. The qualifying rounds will be held with the support of the Moscow Government.
“For the participants, such competitions are an opportunity to go through the entire engineering cycle in practice — from idea and design to assembly, testing, and improvement of the finished structure. Working on the robot develops technical thinking, teaches finding unconventional solutions and teamwork, and the duel itself allows you to immediately see the result of engineering decisions made. It is especially important that this experience is gained also by schoolchildren, students, and young professionals who are just beginning their professional journey,” she said
Maria Bogomolova, Deputy Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development of the City of Moscow.
In the category of robots weighing up to 110 kilograms, 64 teams will compete, 54 of them Russian and 10 foreign. In addition to 15 Moscow teams, participants from Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Tver and Tula regions, the republics of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, Perm Krai, and other regions will join the competition. Foreign participants will come from Brazil, India, Belarus, Iran, China, Saudi Arabia, the USA, Chile, and Tunisia.
Another 80 teams will compete in the mini-robot category weighing up to one and a half kilograms. 72 teams will represent Russia. Participants from Tatarstan, Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Tyumen, Novosibirsk, and Sverdlovsk regions, as well as other areas, will enter the arena. Eight teams have been registered for the international part of the competition.
All four qualifying stages will take place for the first time within the framework of the IT forum “Digital Solutions,” which will be held from October 6 to 10 at the national center “Russia.” During the competition days, teams will be allocated among the qualifying stages. The program will include several blocks of matches in both weight categories and show prologues.
You will be able to follow the competitions online — the broadcast of the “Robot Battle” is scheduled on the championship’s page on the social network “VKontakte”. In addition, the live broadcast will be organized at the ‘Digital Solutions’ forum venue in the national center ‘Russia’.
Preparation for competitions
Before the qualifying stages, six Moscow teams held training sessions at the robotization center “Creators” (a project of the ANO “Human Capital Development”). They practiced robot control skills and tested machines weighing up to one and a half kilograms with different types of mechanisms, including vertical, drum, ring, and double inclined spinners. The training runs took place without actual battles. Visitors to the center were able to see how engineers prepare machines for competitions and ask developers questions about the design and control of the robots.
“Battle of the Robots” — an annual international championship in which teams of engineers and developers create machines for battles in a special arena. In the 2026 season, 307 applications were received, including 52 from representatives of 15 foreign countries. As a result of the selection, 144 teams from 11 countries were admitted to the competition.
