At the Moscow Financial Forum, the winners of the national award in financial and economic journalism, “Finkor,” were honored. Awards were presented in nine categories to representatives of traditional media: newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and online publications, as well as to authors of online channels and students. The award is being given for the fifth time.
“Public finance is a field where behind every figure and decision ultimately stand people and the quality of their lives. Therefore, reliable and professional financial journalism is not just about reporting on budget decisions, rates, or bonds. It helps people understand how the financial system works, make more informed decisions, and shape the financial culture of society. The ways of obtaining information are also changing. Online resources are becoming one of the key channels for this. This is confirmed by the numbers of the award: this year, the most submissions — 100 works — were received in the “Internet Media” category. Therefore, it is important for us that the information here is verified and clear. This is especially relevant given our task to develop long-term investments and increase public interest in the stock market,” noted Aleksey Moiseyev, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, at the award ceremony.
This year, almost 500 applications were submitted to the contest. About 100 works were presented by online media, more than 80 by newspapers and magazines, and another 67 applications came from TV channels and radio stations. As Alexey Moiseev emphasized, the award recognizes the professionalism of journalists who know how to clearly and responsibly explain complex financial issues.
Maria Bagreeva, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, head of the city’s Department of Economic Policy and Development, noted that today the ‘Finkor’ award is more than just a specialized journalism competition.
“Journalists’ interest in the award is constantly growing, as over the years the competition has become a true professional community that unites specialists of all genres — from newspapers to blogs. This is confirmed by the steady increase in the number of entries submitted to the competition, including those from students of Russian universities. In 2024, a special category ‘Student Work’ was introduced for them; over three years, more than 100 works have been submitted to it, with nearly 70 materials in 2026. It is pleasing to see that young people who are just beginning their careers in this profession already possess the necessary competencies and are not afraid to present their works to the judgment of experts and experienced colleagues. That is why we consider “Finkor” not only a prestigious award but also a professional platform for representatives of different generations and directions of quality financial and economic journalism,” added Maria Bagreeva.
