Today in Russia, a three-day election began for deputies to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. In 39 regions, they are also electing heads of administrations, legislative bodies, and local self-government. In Saint Petersburg, for example, voting is taking place for the new composition of the city’s Legislative Assembly.
As is tradition, the rector of SPbPU Andrey Rudskoy, vice-rectors, heads of departments, and lecturers of the Polytechnic voted at polling station No. 358, located at 48 Novorossiyskaya Street, in the Institute of Biomedical Systems and Biotechnology.
Around noon on September 18, the polling station was crowded, with a queue of those who came to vote using the “Mobile Voter” system.
The rector of the Polytechnic greeted everyone in the hall: Today is a very important day — we are choosing our future. We cast our vote for the party we consider the most deserving. I believe that a symbiosis of all the parties presented on the ballot will become an effective foundation for legislative work.
After dropping the ballot into the box, the Rector of the Polytechnic answered a question from a journalist of the St. Petersburg TV channel about which three urgent laws, in his opinion, the new convocation of St. Petersburg deputies should pass first.
“Today, the country is transitioning to a new higher education system. This entails the adoption of a series of laws at both the federal and regional levels. Additionally, it is necessary to legislatively support the activities of secondary schools, — replied Andrey Rudskoy. — Second: laws are needed related to the development of St. Petersburg’s ecosystem and providing citizens with fast and environmentally friendly transport. And third — of course, laws supporting the youngest and oldest citizens of our country. This primarily includes social protection, medical assistance, and measures of material and moral support.
Elections in Russia will take place from September 18 to 20. All citizens over 18 years old have the political right enshrined in the Constitution to participate in managing state affairs through the mechanism of electing legislative bodies and local self-government. Exercise this right and vote for the candidates and parties you consider most worthy. You can find out the number and address of the polling station you are assigned to, as well as see the list of candidates and parties in your personal account on the portal https://www.gosuslugi.ru/, in the section “Single Voting Day.”
