On September 5 and 6, Moscow will celebrate its 879th anniversary. In the parks, museums, libraries, cultural centers, and the MosKino film park, subordinate to the capital city To the Department of Culture, there will be hundreds of festive events. “On September 5 and 6, hundreds of events will take place on our venues in different districts of the capital for city residents. You can celebrate the capital’s birthday not only in the city center but also in your own district near your home — all Muscovites are awaited by concerts of pop artists and orchestras, performances and theatrical productions, intellectual quizzes and contests, creative workshops and cooking lessons, film screenings, and stunt shows,” said the Minister of the Moscow Government, head of the city’s Department of Culture.
Concerts of popular artists, theatrical performances, and a circus show
On six key sites — in the Tsaritsyno and Kolomenskoye museum-reserves, Izmailovsky Park, Novo-Peredelkino, Zelenograd, and the Filimonkovsky district — large concerts will take place on September 5 from 12:00 to 21:00 and on September 6 from 15:00 to 20:00.
On September 5, the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve will host performances by the Moscow Jazz Orchestra under the direction of People’s Artist of Russia Igor Butman, the “Phonograph-Sympho-Jazz” orchestra conducted by People’s Artist of Russia Sergey Zhilin, and the Bel Suono piano trio. On September 6, the stage will feature the Moscow Symphony Orchestra “Russian Philharmonia,” as well as artists from the Mossovet Theatre with the “Aquariunik” apartment concert and the Theatre on Malaya Ordynka. For young visitors, the Moscow Children’s Variety Theater will present the program “Children of Moscow,” the Children’s Musical Theater of the Young Actor will perform “Melodies of Beloved Moscow,” the musical theater “Na Basmannaya” will hold a concert “The Best City on Earth,” and on September 6 the “Firebird” theater will stage the play “Ukhti-Tukhti.” Guests can also attend workshops on creating souvenirs.
Visitors to Izmailovsky Park will be congratulated by artists from Moscow theaters. The Moscow Illusion Theater will present the programs “The Best City on Earth” and “For You, Moscow!”, the theater center “Cherry Orchard” under the direction of Alexander Vilkin will show a musical performance about the attractive power of the capital, and the dance theater “Gzhel” will also perform on stage. The big top circus will hold free performances of the “Lights of the Big Circus” program in honor of City Day. More than four thousand guests will see 15 acts featuring 70 artists — acrobats, equilibrist performers, and animal trainers. The program includes performances by chimpanzees, bison, lions, dogs, and horses, as well as spectacular horse-acrobatic acts. The shows will take place on September 5 and 6 at 14:00 and 18:00. In the 50th Anniversary of October Park, competitions called “Not Games,” creative workshops, and cover band performances will be held during the holiday days. In Lianozovsky Park on September 5 from 10:00 to 20:00, visitors can attend concerts by music studios, a musical, dance master classes, demonstration performances of modern sword fighting, a light show, and also participate in a lottery with prizes. On September 6, park visitors will be awaited by performances of creative groups.
On September 6, children’s entertainers will be working in Fili Park and will organize workshops on making crafts featuring Moscow’s symbols. In the evening, a rock concert “Burlaki in Fili” will take place on the main stage.
On September 6th, Tagansky Park will host a concert program, an interactive quiz “Around Moscow,” masterclasses on urban ornamentation and collage making. The magic of the MosKino film park, music legends, and screen stars at Zaryadye
The MosKino film park will hold a special program on September 5 and 6 from 12:00 to 20:00 that will cover all its corners. Creative workshops will be organized in the central square, and a beauty station will open. In the “City Rhythm” space, audiences will be presented with dance performances, flash mobs, and master classes. A temporary tattoo zone will also open here. For fans of active recreation, the organizers have prepared the “Yard Entertainment” area with dodgeball games, tag, and rubber band competitions. The evening program includes a DJ set, performances by a cover band, as well as concerts featuring Rodion Gazmanov, Khabib, Nodar Reviya, Denis Klyaver, and the Kremlin Orchestra.
An exciting stunt show will take place in the “Cowboy Town,” and nearby, anyone can test their strength on the “Mechanical Bull” attraction. For children, creative studios, a bungee trampoline, a photo zone, and face painting artists will be available in the “Fairy Tale Park.” In the “County Town,” staged filming inspired by the movie “Wedding in Malinovka” will take place, and on the “Cathedral Square” site, heroic fights will be organized. Digital attractions, an obstacle course, and engaging quests are prepared at the “Natural Chroma Key” site. Admission to the film park is free on both days.
The Moskino cinema chain will delight visitors with films about Moscow, made with the participation of the Moscow Film Commission. Entry by registration. In the summer cinemas at the recreation area ‘Pokrovsky Bereg’, the Vorontsovo estate, and the parks ‘Khodynskoye Pole’, ‘Mitino’, and ’50 Years of October’ on September 5 at 18:30, screenings of the legendary film ‘Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears’ will take place.
On September 5th, a grand concert titled “Moscow. Declaration of Love” will take place at the “Cultural City” festival in Zaryadye Park. Quests and tours in museums and libraries
Capital museums have also prepared for City Day. The Museum of Moscow will hold on September 5 “Dvoroteka” festival with a large children’s area, workshops on creating a family book, mosaics and collages, ping-pong and table football tournaments, a city quiz, and board games.
