The first stage of the final section has been completed Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD) along Kaspiyskaya Street — from Sevan Street to the Paveletsky direction of the Moscow Railway (MZhD). The traffic on the new highway was opened by Sergey Sobyanin.
“This year, a large road program is being implemented in Moscow—about 100 kilometers of roads, 18 engineering structures, including overpasses, tunnels, and flyovers. One of the important sections, the one we are currently at, is part of the project for straightening the Moscow high-speed diameter, through which about 400 thousand motorists travel daily; it certainly has citywide significance. The entire straightening project will be completed by the end of the year, and today the most complex section is being launched, which includes six engineering structures and runs along the railway,” Sergey Sobyanin said.
The commissioning of the final section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter will improve transportation services for approximately 700,000 residents of the southern districts of the capital: Tsaritsyno, Orekhovo-Borisovo Severnoye, Moskvorechye-Saburovo, Biryulyovo Zapadnoye, Biryulyovo Vostochnoye, and Chertanovo Tsentralnoye.

Travel time will be reduced by an average of seven minutes. In addition, the operation of 15 surface transport routes, which carry more than 70 thousand passengers daily, will be accelerated.
The load on the MSD sections from the Planned Passage No. 5108 to Kantemirovskaya Street, Kantemirovskaya, Sevanskaya, and Bakinskaya Streets will decrease by up to 10 percent. In addition, an additional exit from the MSD to the M-4 “Don” highway via Lipetskaya Street will appear.
The final section of the MSD — straightening the route from Kantemirovskaya Street to the Paveletsky direction of the Moscow Railway — began construction in August 2023. The length of the route in a straight line (excluding exits) is about four kilometers. It is planned to have between four and six traffic lanes. The route starts from Kantemirovskaya Street, follows Kaspiyskaya Street, then runs along the tracks of the second Moscow Central Diameter, crosses Medikov, Yerevanskaya, Luganskaya, Sevanskaya, and Bakinskaya streets.
In September 2026, the first phase of work was completed: 5.4 kilometers of roads were constructed and reconstructed, and six artificial structures with a total length of more than two kilometers were opened. Among them:
— tunnel along the main route of the MSD at the intersection with Bakinskaya Street (length — 58 meters, three lanes in one direction);
— two overpass exits from Lipetskaya Street onto the main MSD route towards Kashirskoye and Simferopolskoye highways (length — one kilometer, one to two lanes in one direction);
— two exit ramps from Kaspiyskaya Street to the main course of the MSD towards the MKAD and the city center (0.8 kilometers, one lane in one direction);
— an overpass-exit from MSD to Kaspiyskaya Street (0.3 kilometers, one lane in one direction).
In addition, exits have been arranged from Bakinskaya Street to the MSD and from the MSD to Bakinskaya Street towards the M-4 “Don” highway (1.1 kilometers, from one to three lanes in one direction), and 0.7 kilometers of the street-road network have been reconstructed. As part of the improvement works, six hectares of lawns have been laid out on the territory.
“In a few months, we will finish the reconstruction of the MSD section along Kaspiyskaya Street—from Sevanskaya Street to Medikov Street. The work is being carried out while maintaining traffic flow,” Sergey Sobyanin summarized.

The length of the roads in the section from Sevan Street to Medikov Street will be 2.3 kilometers. Subsequently, at the intersection with Yerevan Street, a terminal building will be constructed for urban ground transportation routes.
The main route of the MSD was opened on September 9, 2023. Motorists can travel from the north to the east of Moscow — from the Businovskaya interchange to the M-12 highway, as well as to the south — to the M-2 “Crimea” highway. Approximately 400,000 drivers use the highway daily. Alongside the MKAD and the Third Transport Ring (TTK), the MSD is among the city’s top three most in-demand routes. Thanks to the new highway, travel time in several directions has been reduced by 25–50 percent, and the load on sections of the Garden Ring, TTK, and MKAD has decreased by up to 15 percent.
New roads of Moscow
Since 2011, more than 1.6 thousand kilometers of new roads have been built in the capital, and 75 percent of the transport highways have been constructed and reconstructed. In addition, 502 new tunnels, overpasses, and bridges have been erected. Thus, their total number has increased by more than 70 percent. Additionally, 374 off-street pedestrian crossings have appeared in the capital.
In 2026–2028, the construction of 296 kilometers of roads, 46 artificial structures, and 53 pedestrian crossings is planned. In particular, in 2026, about 100 kilometers of roads, 18 artificial structures, and 16 pedestrian crossings are expected to be commissioned.
Among the main targets for 2026:
— site Southern bypass from Kaspiyskaya Street to 1st Kotlyakovsky Lane (launched in June);
— a connecting road between Dobrolyubova and Skladochnaya streets (opened in June);
— an overpass on the main route of Entuziastov Highway at the intersection with Svobodny Avenue and Bolshoy Kupavensky Drive (commissioned in August);
— the final section of the MCD along Kaspiyskaya Street from Kantemirovskaya Street to the Paveletsky direction of the Moscow Railway (the first stage was completed in September);
– reconstruction of the Simonovskaya and Krutitskaya embankments;
— a connecting road between MSD and Akademika Koroleva Street with a new overpass over the tracks of the third Moscow Central Diameters.
