Today marked the grand opening of the educational and scientific center Institute of Medicine and Medical Technologies (UNTS IMMT) NSU, which relates to the objects of the second phase modern university campus, constructed within the framework of the national project “Youth and Children.” The event was attended by a Senator of the Russian Federation Alexander Karelin, Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Irina Manuylova, rector of NSU, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Pyshny, representatives of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, heads of scientific institutes, young scientists, and students.

We are especially pleased to realize that, together with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and with the help of our builders and contractors, we manage to create such beautiful buildings, such infrastructure. This will greatly affect the improvement of the educational process because it is pleasant to come here, pleasant to be here, pleasant to study and work. — said Dmitry Pyshny at the opening ceremony.

Three-time Olympic champion and Hero of Russia Alexander Karelin congratulated on the opening of the educational and scientific center and noted that students, after training at the university, at the new center, “will receive amazing opportunities to prove themselves as highly qualified specialists, as the future of Russian science.” He also added:

I want to wish everyone confidence in our great and strong Russian state, which, despite the difficult challenges and despite the special military operation, is building and opening such facilities.

On behalf of Governor Andrey Alexandrovich Travnikov, for whom this project has also become one of the most important projects of our region, and on behalf of the Government of the Novosibirsk Region, I want to say a huge thank you to those who are developing the university, which, in turn, is becoming the center of an ecosystem together with our scientific organizations, Akadempark, and those companies that today truly ensure the solution of technological sovereignty tasks. The educational and scientific center will become a powerful core for training physician-researchers and developing sovereign medical technologies that will be in demand throughout the country, — emphasized Irina Manuilova.

The opening ceremony of the center took place under the symbol of generational unity — the event was marked by the unveiling of the “Quantum Crystal” stele, embodying the connection between different scientific fields and the science of the past, present, and future. In addition, a time capsule was laid with a message to researchers of the year 2076.

A new building with an area of more than 12,500 square meters was constructed by the SPK “Unified Customer”. The permit for commissioning the facility was obtained on June 23, 2026. It provides conditions for training more than 700 students in medical, pharmaceutical, and psychological fields, including new programs — “Medical Cybernetics” and “Industrial Pharmacy,” which appeared at NSU in 2025. The building houses 13 practical training rooms and 10 research and educational laboratories in areas such as molecular pharmacology, metabolomic research, medicinal chemistry, molecular virology and oncology, among others.

The building also houses one of the most modern and high-tech accreditation and simulation centers in Russia for training future doctors. The new center covers an area of about 1400 square meters and is located in the basement of the new building. The center is equipped with advanced high-tech equipment. In addition to standard simulators for training doctors, it includes units for “Disaster Medicine” and “Tactical Medicine,” robotic simulators for endovideo surgery, ultrasound and endoscopic examinations, and the “Virtual Pharmaceutical Factory” training complex. It also houses an accreditation center for doctors of various specialties, making the space a unified platform for education, training, and objective assessment of professional skills.

Research in promising areas will be developed at the research center — this is the third facility of the second phase of the NSU campus (area — over 11,000 sq.m). It is planned that the commissioning permit for the new building will be obtained by the end of 2026. It will employ 180 scientific employees and researchers and will house 18 laboratories. The NSU research center will feature such fields as biomedical and pharmaceutical technologies, space instrumentation, photonics and medical microresonator technologies, accelerator mass spectrometry and carbon dating, applied problems of paleomagnetism, prototyping of functional and biomedical materials, biomechanics and medical engineering, synchrotron technologies (SKIF) in biomedicine.

The modern NSU campus includes several phases of construction. The first phase, with a total area of about 38,000 square meters, was completed in 2024. It includes the educational building of the NSU Specialized Educational and Scientific Center for Physics and Mathematics (Sunst School), the leisure center of the NSU Specialized Educational and Scientific Center, and a complex of two NSU dormitories housing 690 people. The construction was funded by a benefactor.

The second phase of construction includes three facilities: a block of lecture halls, the IMMT NSU educational and scientific center, and a research center. The construction of these buildings is funded by the federal budget and carried out by specialists from the United Customer Project Company, with a total area of 40,000 square meters. The permit for commissioning the block of lecture halls was obtained in December 2024, and it opened in September 2025.

By order of President Vladimir Putin, a network of modern campuses is being created in Russia. By 2030, the country should have a constellation of 25 campuses. The work in this direction is carried out by the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia. The project is financed by federal and regional budgets, as well as by extrabudgetary sources.
