On the eve of the XI Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held in Vladivostok from September 1 to 4, two murals dedicated to the All-Russian contest for the best journey across the Far East and the Arctic, “Far East — Land of Adventures,” were created in the capital of Primorye.
“We want to attract participants and guests of the Eastern Economic Forum, guests and residents of Vladivostok to the contest ‘Far East – Land of Adventures.’ We created it to support those who spend their leisure actively, engage in tourism, and develop new travel routes. The Far East is famous for its unique nature: seas and rivers, hills and volcanoes, steppes and taiga. Every traveler will find an adventure suited to their taste here. We want as many people as possible in Russia and abroad to learn about all the tourist opportunities of the Far Eastern regions. So that with each year, more and more tourists come here,” said the project initiator, Deputy Chairman of the Government – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.
The murals are located under the interchange in the Patrokl neighborhood, if you are driving towards the Russky or Golden bridges. They depict famous travelers known in Primorsky Krai – participants of the ‘Far East – Land of Adventures’ contest, and also bear the inscription: ‘Your journey begins here.’
“These are not just murals – they reflect the beauty of Primorye and the spirit of our residents – those who are not afraid to conquer the sea and mountains, for whom rest is overcoming oneself and the elements. Thanks to the contest ‘Far East – Land of Adventures,’ every year we see dozens of short films capturing the emotions and enthusiasm of professional tourists and amateur travelers. This inspires people to go hiking, see the unique nature of the region, and even come specifically to our region to follow the routes of the contest participants,” noted the governor of Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako.
According to the head of Vladivostok, Konstantin Shestakov, the new murals have become not only a bright decoration of the city but also an important symbol. “These works are an inspiration for new discoveries, an opportunity to learn about the amazing world of the Far East. We want everyone who sees these murals to know: their adventure begins here and now, in Vladivostok – a place of power for travelers from across the country, from where the path opens to the unique nature of our region. I am confident that the contest will help us discover even more interesting routes,” said Konstantin Shestakov.
The right mural depicts Anton Konobievsky, a well-known nature researcher and travel film author in the Far East. His video work about a kayak journey from Dubovaya Bay to Vladivostok, “Solo Expedition through Primorye by Kayak. 500 km in 17 days,” won the Grand Prix of the first season of the competition.
On the left mural is Kristina Perestoronina, a traveler and blogger who conquered 10 peaks in 26 days and received the “Primorsky Leopard” badge. As a result of the third season of the competition, the girl became a prize winner in the nomination “Hiking” with the film “Voice Between the Peaks.” Kristina climbed Mount Kurortnaya in Primorsky Krai and Tordoki-Yani in Khabarovsk Krai, thereby uniting two regions and the key peaks of the Sikhote-Alin range.
The images of Anton and Kristina are symbols of love for travel, their native region, courage, and curiosity. Anton’s mural was painted from a freeze-frame of his video shot during a rafting trip in Primorye, while Kristina’s mural was created from a collage of her photos on social media, combining Kamchatka with the nature of the Lazovsky district: bright blue sky, a stealthy fox, a snowy peak, hills. The work was done by artists Maksim Nekko and Sergey Motafanov.
The main idea of the murals is to showcase the multifaceted and unique beauty of Primorsky Krai and the Far East, as well as to inspire residents and visitors of Vladivostok to explore Primorye and other Far Eastern regions.
We remind you that applications for participation in the fourth season of the competition “Far East – Land of Adventures” are being accepted until January 15, 2027. To participate, you need to shoot a short film up to 8 minutes long about your journey in the Far East or the Arctic and submit it through the website путешественникдв.рф. Take part in the competition and get a chance to win the grand prize of 3 million rubles or many other prizes.
The competition is held with the support of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, JSC “Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic,” and the NGO “Social Initiatives Development Fund.”
