Today, August 20, as part of a working visit to Naberezhnye Chelny, PJSC “KAMAZ” was visited by a delegation of the Moscow Government headed by the capital’s mayor, Sergey Sobyanin.
Also in the delegation are Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov, Moscow Deputy Mayor for Housing, Utilities and Improvement Pyotr Biryukov, General Director of the State Unitary Enterprise “Mosgortrans” Nikolay Asaul, and other leaders. Accompanied by the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, State Duma Deputy of the Russian Federation Alfiya Kogogina, and General Director of PJSC “KAMAZ” Sergey Kogogin, the guests visited the main industrial facilities of the automotive giant.
The introductory tour began at the Automobile Plant, where delegation members were shown the final process of assembling KAMAZ trucks, including the operation of the main assembly line and the cabin assembly line. During the visit, Sergey Sobyanin spoke with the company’s workforce, thanking the KAMAZ employees for their contribution to the development of passenger and municipal vehicle fleets in the capital and to domestic automotive manufacturing as a whole. Sergey Kogogin also drew Sergey Sobyanin’s attention to the work of student teams at the enterprise, emphasizing their contribution to KAMAZ’s production activities. Currently, 330 students from 19 regions of Russia are employed at the automotive giant.
Then the Mayor of Moscow and members of the delegation went to the company’s Scientific and Technical Center – a vast exhibition of the latest vehicles was organized at the research site, with more than 30 models on display.
The exhibition featured both the advanced developments of the automotive giant in the field of passenger transport and high-tech automotive equipment in demand across various industries—from freight transportation to urban services. These included the KAMAZ-4280, KAMAZ-4290 buses, the suburban KAMAZ-5222, and the tourist KAMAZ-52229, as well as the new generation electric buses: the KAMAZ-52222, the articulated KAMAZ-6292 (accordion), and the KAMAZ-6282 ONC with night charging. Additionally, flagship KAMAZ-54901 semi-trucks were presented—in the High-tech configuration and a compressed natural gas (CNG) version—as well as refrigerated trucks, garbage trucks, combined road machines, and other municipal equipment based on KAMAZ chassis. Visitors were interested in new models from the KAMAZ Kompas family, including the electric modification KAMAZ-45759 “ElectroKompas.” A separate section of the exhibition was dedicated to Moskvich and Aurus Senat passenger cars, as well as the Atom electric vehicle.
“By the order of the President, together with KAMAZ, we are addressing the issues of our country’s technological sovereignty. We are organizing a number of very serious projects. The first project is traditional – municipal equipment. In Moscow, there are about 10 thousand vehicles of various specializations.” – emphasized Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin after visiting KAMAZ. According to him, an offset contract has been concluded for the development and creation of new modern vehicles. A special project launched in 2018 is related to the production of electric buses. Thus, the electric bus created by the KAMAZ Group of Companies has been recognized as the best in Europe and Russia. Currently, 2,500 KAMAZ electric buses transport passengers.
In turn Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Moscow is the largest consumer of enterprises in the region. According to him, Moscow has become a model, and many decisions implemented in the city have “transferred” to the region.

The route concluded with a visit to the KAMAZ General Directorate, where the Mayor of Moscow and members of the delegation discussed with the company’s management the prospects for further cooperation and key joint projects.
PJSC “KAMAZ” has been developing strategic cooperation with Moscow for many years, being one of the key suppliers of transport for the capital. In total, more than 4,800 of the most modern buses and electric buses manufactured by PJSC “KAMAZ” are already operating on the streets of the metropolis.
Thus, city metropolitan routes are already served by more than 3,000 modern electric buses of Russian manufacture, of which over 2,450 units have been supplied specifically by KAMAZ. At the same time, the fifth-generation electric bus – KAMAZ-52222 – is currently being delivered to Moscow, with serial production having started last year. Since 2025, more than 550 KAMAZ-52222 generation A5 electric buses have entered the Mosgortrans fleet. Under the current contract for 2026-2027, KAMAZ will deliver 700 innovative A5 generation electric buses to Moscow.
In addition, urban and suburban routes of Mosgortrans are served by over 2,500 buses produced by PJSC KAMAZ. Most of them are modern NEFAZ-5299 models in the city modification. Also last year, the unique project “Moscow – region” was launched. To start new routes of the project, the city signed a contract with PJSC KAMAZ for the supply of more than 400 units of modern vehicles of various classes and modifications. Among them: 233 large-class NEFAZ-5299 buses in the city modification, 72 medium-class buses of the new KAMAZ-4290 model, and 100 large-class NEFAZ-5299 buses in the suburban modification. In 2026, over 350 buses from PJSC KAMAZ have already arrived in the Mosgortrans parks under new contracts.
Besides passenger transport, Moscow is also developing and renewing its fleet of municipal equipment. The production chain for municipal equipment involves manufacturing plants from dozens of regions of Russia. The main supplier of chassis for them is PJSC “KAMAZ”.
