From August 21 to 23, capital cultural institutions will hold about 250 events dedicated to the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation. Among them are film screenings, performances, concerts, lectures, and excursions devoted to the history of our country and its official symbols. This was reported by Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.
“The program was prepared by more than 200 museums, libraries, parks, and other venues. Everyone interested will be able to watch theatrical performances and historical films, listen to patriotic songs, participate in quizzes and creative workshops,” said Natalia Sergunina.
Film screenings, performances, and concerts
Film screenings are scheduled in Zaryadye Park. On August 21, viewers in the Small Amphitheater will see the film “Wings over Berlin” about pilots who took part in the first air attack on the capital of Hitler’s Germany in 1941. On August 22, the film “The First Oscar” about the cameramen who captured the wartime chronicles of the Battle of Moscow will be shown in the same place. On August 23, under the glass canopy, the movie “Liberation. The Fiery Arc,” dedicated to the Battle of Kursk — one of the decisive battles of the Great Patriotic War — will be screened.
On State Flag Day, everyone is invited to the performance “Waltz in 2/4”. It will be presented on one of the stages at the “Theatrical Boulevard” festival on Chistoprudny Boulevard. The plot is based on events that took place in Donbass in 2015. It is a story about a chance encounter between a wounded soldier and a young woman from the enemy camp. The production addresses themes of historical memory, moral choice, and the ability of people to maintain their humanity even in difficult circumstances.
The music program awaits guests on August 22 at the Lyublino estate. The chamber choir of the V.S. Loktev Song and Dance Ensemble will perform on stage, followed by soloists from state musical theaters and laureates of international competitions. On the same day, a patriotic song concert will be held in Fili Park. The program includes works by Soviet and contemporary composers.
From excursions to quizzes
On August 21, thematic quizzes, contests, and performances by creative groups of the Association of Cultural and Leisure Centers of the South-Eastern Administrative District will take place in the 850th Anniversary of Moscow Park.
At Library No. 180 named after N.F. Fedorov, quizzes and discussions dedicated to the holiday are being organized for young city residents, while at the Library-Media Center No. 67 there will be a master class called “Tricolor,” where the children will make a paper applique in the colors of the Russian flag and learn about the significance of state symbols of Russia and other countries.
At the Museum of Cosmonautics, on the holiday, a lecture titled “What Do the Stars Above the Kremlin Remember?” will be given. It will connect themes of Russian history and domestic space exploration. In addition, a ceremonial transfer of sketches of the mission emblems for “Soyuz MS-28” and “Soyuz MS-29,” created by artist Alima Feyzulina, to the museum’s collections will take place here.
On August 22, guests at the Ilya Glazunov Gallery can expect excursion. It will tell about key events significant for our country, reflected in the master’s work, and will show his canvases — from historical paintings and landscapes to portraits and illustrations for Russian classics.
