On September 5, the center for modern pentathlon “Severny” and the Moscow Academy of Modern Pentathlon will host Union State Cup in modern pentathlon. It is organized by Department of Sports the city of Moscow together with the Federation of Modern Pentathlon of Russia within the framework of the project “Summer in Moscow”.
The tournament will feature 12 teams from Russia, Belarus, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The competition will follow a mixed relay format, where athletes will demonstrate their skills in fencing, swimming, laser-run (running and laser pistol shooting), and an obstacle course.
The competitions will start at 12:30 at the Northern Modern Pentathlon Center. Here, participants of the Union State Cup will compete in disciplines such as fencing and swimming. Then the contests will take place at the Moscow Academy of Modern Pentathlon, with the opening ceremony at 15:00. First, the athletes will compete on the obstacle course, and then in the decisive combined event of the program — the laser-run. The tournament will conclude with the awards ceremony for the winners and prize-winners of the Union State Cup.
A concert program is also planned for all participants and spectators. During the tournament, teams will be supported by the band “Mojito,” the dance group “Todes,” the cheerleading squad of the professional basketball club CSKA, singer Olga Burlutskaya, and artists from the dance ensemble “Orion.” Traditionally, the hosts will be athletes Vasily Artemyev and Denis Stoykov.
Admission for spectators is free.
