Financial News: Moscow Exchange Extends Trading Hours.

Starting from September 14, 2026, the main trading session on the stock, derivatives, currency markets, and precious metals market of the Moscow Exchange will begin at 9:00 AM. Thus, the duration of the main trading session will be extended by 1 hour and will amount to 10 hours.

Calculation and publication of the main indices of the Moscow Exchange will also start from 9:00.

Viktor Zhidkov, Chairman of the Moscow Exchange Board:

“We are consistently extending trading hours in response to investor requests – now it is possible to trade on the Moscow Exchange for 17 hours a day and 103 hours a week. Increasing the duration of the main trading session is the next step in this direction. It will allow investors to diversify their trading strategies and provide additional liquidity primarily due to institutional investors, for whom it is important to implement their strategies during the main trading session. Additionally, clients from Siberia and the Far East will get an extra hour to trade at a time comfortable for them.”

Trading regulations effective from September 14:
Stock and derivatives markets

  • 6:50–9:00 – morning trading session (6:50–7:00 – opening auction);
  • 9:00 AM–7:00 PM – main trading session (9:00–9:10 – opening auction – for securities not admitted to the morning session);
  • 19:00–23:50 – evening trading session.

Trading on weekends will still be conducted from 9:50 to 19:00 (9:50–10:00 opening auction).

Currency market and precious metals market

  • from 8:50 to 19:00 – main trading session (8:50–9:00 – opening auction).

Money Market

  • 10:00–19:00 – main trading session in anonymous trading modes
  • 19:00–23:50 – evening session.
  • The start of trading for repo, deposit, and loan transactions with specified addresses is postponed to 8:30 (currently at 9:30).
