Beijing, August 1 /Xinhua/ — Chinese airlines plan to further reduce fuel surcharges on domestic routes for tickets sold from August 5, following a decrease that took place in July, according to announcements published by the carriers on Friday.
The additional fuel surcharge will be reduced to 40 yuan / about US$5.89 / for each segment on routes up to 800 km in length and to 70 yuan on longer routes.
Infants are exempt from the additional fee, while children, servicemen, and police officers who have become disabled will receive a 50 percent discount.
