Among them, the number of foreign tourists amounted to approximately 4.1311 million people, increasing by 32.38% year-on-year.
In addition to Russia, the largest source countries of visitors to Shanghai also included the Republic of Korea, the United States, Thailand, and Malaysia, according to the data from the aforementioned agency.
Thanks to the constant deepening of Sino-Russian trade-economic cooperation and cultural exchanges, Shanghai has become one of the main destinations for Russian tourists visiting China.
According to Zhou Weihong, Deputy General Director of the travel company Spring Tour, against the backdrop of close exchanges between China and Russia in trade and economic sectors, tourism, and other fields, the introduction of a visa-free regime has significantly reduced the time spent and simplified the entry procedures for Russian citizens traveling to China, especially to meet their needs for frequent and short-term cross-border business exchanges. -0-
