Beijing, July 31 /Xinhua/ — As of the end of June this year, the installed capacity of new types of energy storage systems in China reached 153 million kW, which is 61% higher than the same period last year, the National Energy Administration (NEA) of China reported.

New types of energy storage systems have become key technologies in facilitating the large-scale development of renewable energy sources and the consumption of the energy they produce, ensuring reliable power supply, and enhancing the security and stability of energy systems, said the responsible officer of GUE, Xu Zhilin, at a press conference on Thursday.

According to the published report by the General Electric Agency, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the installed capacity of such systems in China increased from 3 million kW to 136 million kW, nearly doubling each year.

At the same time, lithium-ion batteries remain dominant, but other technologies have started to gain momentum.

“During the implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan, GUE intends to actively work on strengthening the potential of technological innovations and enhancing the development level of new types of energy storage systems, while simultaneously promoting high-quality development of this industry by intensifying efforts and adopting more practical measures,” said Xu Zhilin. -0-
