In Russia, systematic work continues to create a comfortable environment within the framework of the national project “Infrastructure for Life.” The public spaces being created are becoming new points of attraction and also give a tangible boost to economic development. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“The government is conducting systematic work on transforming public spaces across the country. Under the federal project ‘Creating a Comfortable Urban Environment,’ which is currently being implemented as part of the national project ‘Infrastructure for Life,’ more than 10.5 thousand parks have been improved since 2017. In addition, during the All-Russian competition for the best comfortable urban environment projects, more than 1.6 thousand objects have become winners, of which 679 are parks. Thus, beautiful, modern recreation areas are emerging everywhere, attracting residents of all ages and tourists. It is important that the improvement has a multiplier effect: new small businesses open, new jobs are created, and public activity increases. All this contributes to the development of regions and directly improves people’s quality of life. With these steps, we ensure the achievement of the national goal—to improve the quality of the living environment by 30% in key settlements by 2030,” said Marat Khusnullin.
Beautiful and modern parks are now in every region of Russia. For example, in the city of Frolovo in the Volgograd region, the “Zheleznodorozhny” park has been transformed into a multifunctional cluster with innovative sports zones: workout areas, modern exercise machines, a skatepark, and an updated network of bike paths have appeared here. In the city of Kamenka in the Penza region, the project “Superpark. City of Living Water” was implemented, whose central element became dynamic fountains with an intelligent control system, combining light-dynamic illumination with programmable water shows.
“The main task when renovating parks is to take into account the opinions of local residents and synchronize them with current trends. Public spaces must meet the needs of people of all ages, be functional and attractive, aesthetic, energy-efficient, and technological. In addition, modern equipped parks are an important component for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and a place for accumulating social capital. This year, according to the federal project plan “Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment,” we are to implement 5,000 territories, including 1,300 parks,” noted Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Irek Faizullin.
In Volzhsk, Republic of Mari El, the improvement of the central park has been completed under the project “Re-park: New Ecocultural Center” (area – over 64 sq. km, coverage – 51 thousand residents). It is now the city’s main cultural space, featuring an amphitheater, stage, children’s and sports zones, as well as a water area with pergolas.
The “BAM History” Park in Severobaikalsk, Republic of Buryatia, the winner of the competition for the Far Eastern Federal District, was included in the Ministry of Construction’s registry of best practices. It is an open-air museum whose route follows the bends of the railway line with historical “stations.” The main exhibits are an authentic track-laying machine, dump trucks, and a “Magirus”; the site also features a stage, paths, benches, and a children’s playground.
In Magadan, the “Mayak” park covering almost 10 hectares has been developed in four phases from 2018 to 2025: walking routes and scenic platforms have been arranged, and the lighthouse has been restored. According to the “Zen” concept, a place for contemplation with views of the bay has been created, including six zones – from walking areas to food courts and souvenir shops.
Volga Park in Rybinsk, after two stages of improvement, annually welcomes about 500 thousand tourists and 174 thousand residents. It features a recreation area, the children’s complex “Adventure Trail,” a universal sports ground, and the “Flame of Glory” memorial (a 28-meter obelisk from 1967) which has been reinforced with reconstruction of its base, stairs, and cladding.
The activities of the national project “Infrastructure for Life” are synchronized with the people’s program of the “United Russia” party.
