Tbilisi, April 1 /Xin Hua/ — Issues of cooperation between the Government of Georgia and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), including support from the Fund in carrying out fiscal and structural reforms, were discussed at a meeting between the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze and the head of the IMF mission Alexander Heidenberger. This was reported on Wednesday by the administration of the Georgian government.
The parties discussed the current dynamics of Georgia’s economic growth. It was noted that the average annual growth rate of the national economy over the past five years amounted to 9.3%, with this positive trend continuing into the current year.
I. Kobalidze emphasized that the government’s economic policy is aimed at ensuring macroeconomic stability, continuing structural reforms, and implementing strategically important infrastructure projects, including laying an underwater cable through the Black Sea and developing the deep-water port of Anaklia.
Special attention in the meeting room was devoted to the comprehensive reform of state enterprises, which will allow directing the savings in the public sector towards the further development of the country’s economy. –0–
