Beijing, April 2 /Xinhua/ — According to the Academy of Innovation in the field of microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences /IAMCAS/, the recently launched test cargo spacecraft “Qinzhou” is the final version, which will dock with the Chinese space station and provide cargo delivery.
The test apparatus was launched using the carrier rocket /RN/ Lijian-2 Y1 on Monday from the pilot zone of commercial space innovations in northwest China and was successfully placed into the designated orbit.
The developed IAMCAS test apparatus weighs 4.2 tons, is compatible with various types of RNs and is easily adapted for launch. During the test flight aboard “Qinzhou,” tests will be conducted, including technological reserves, verification in orbit, and scientific research, within the framework of 27 projects with a total payload of 1.02 tons. These will be carried out at altitudes ranging from 200 to 600 km.
The experimental spacecraft consists of a main sealed compartment and an unsealed aft section. Inside the main compartment, there are 40 cargo cells with a total volume of 27 cubic meters, in which first-necessity items for cosmonauts, equipment for scientific experiments, and scientific research payload can be transported.
The unique feature of “Chinzhou” is the ability to accommodate a cryostat with a volume of 300 liters, consisting of five 60-liter cryostat chambers, which provides conditions for preserving everyday objects for astronauts, as well as samples for biological experiments requiring low-temperature preservation.
The non-hermetic eastern part is intended for placement and transportation of other cargoes, as well as additional useful loads and equipment necessary for conducting experiments in the space environment, which in turn allows for maximum utilization of the lifting capacity of the “Chinchzhou.”
