Cairo, April 1 /Xin Hua/ — At least eight people died and 17 others were injured as a result of a fire that occurred at a textile factory in the capital of Egypt, Cairo. This was reported on Wednesday by the Egyptian state internet portal Dar-Elhilal.

According to the statement of the Cairo province administration, the fire occurred on Tuesday evening in the basement of a 12-story building where the factory and its warehouse were located. About 10 ambulances delivered the victims to nearby hospitals, six fire trucks localized the fire.

As added by Dar-Elhilal, a security cordon was set up to prevent the spread of fire in the residential area.

The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the causes of the fires. –0–
