Saint Petersburg, July 23 /Xinhua/ — The cultural presentation event “The Great Tea Road: China /Hubei/ — Russia” took place on Wednesday in Saint Petersburg. Participants of the event had the opportunity to learn about the features of tea culture and the cultural heritage of Hubei Province /Central China/.
As noted at the event by the Consul General of the PRC in Saint Petersburg, Luo Zhanhui, this year, thanks to the strong Chinese-Russian friendship and efforts to add the transnational route “The Great Tea Road” to the UNESCO World Heritage list, this path has acquired new significance. “It carries the will of two peoples for friendship and connects hearts,” emphasized the diplomat.

Cooperation agreements were signed between several Russian and Chinese companies. A presentation of the new Russian-Chinese documentary film “Walking the Tea Road Again” took place. The audience also saw a tea ceremony and performances dedicated to Chinese tea culture.
Olga Migunova, Deputy Chairperson of the Society of Russian-Chinese Friendship in Saint Petersburg, told a Xinhua correspondent that events of this kind help Russians better understand the Chinese mentality and history. “This is important for our entire society,” she emphasized.
According to the president of the Interregional Public Organization “Association of Veterans, Disabled People, and Pensioners,” Asi Nesterovskaya, Russians are actively interested in Chinese tea culture. “I work with tourist groups of Russian pensioners. And now we want to go to China to get closer acquainted with the culture of this country,” she said.
