Beijing, July 22 /Xinhua/ — China’s budget revenues for the first half of 2026 increased by 4.7 percent year-on-year, reaching 12.1 trillion yuan (about 1.78 trillion US dollars), according to data released by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday.
Growth rates continued to increase by 4 percent over the first five months, indicating a steady improvement in budget revenue performance.
In January-June of this year, total tax revenues in China amounted to 9.79 trillion yuan, increasing by 5.3 percent compared to the same period in 2025.
The country’s budget expenditures increased by 1.5 percent year-on-year and reached 14.33 trillion yuan for the period from January to June.
China will continue to implement proactive financial policies in 2026 to ensure the budget deficit to GDP ratio remains at around 4 percent, according to the government’s work report for the current year.
The expenditures of the regular public budget were planned for the first time at the level of 30 trillion yuan, which is about 1.27 trillion yuan more than in 2025. -0-
