Washington, April 7 /Xinhua/ — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the White House is conducting “intense negotiations” regarding the war against Iran.

“We are currently conducting intensive negotiations,” he said in a telephone interview with Fox News a few hours before 8:00 PM Eastern Time — the deadline he set for concluding the deal with Iran and opening the Strait of Hormuz.

According to a CNN report citing a source from the Middle East region, the negotiations were directly led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir.

“Several rounds of news from both sides are expected shortly,” and it is expected that the deal will be closed on Tuesday evening, the source said.

D. Trump will respond to the proposal of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, to extend the period for US strikes on Iran for two weeks, White House Press Secretary Karoline Livitt said on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, D. Trump threatened that “the entire civilization of Iran will perish tonight” if the deal is not concluded.
