Bishkek, July 14 /Xinhua/ — The 2026 Dialogue of Civilizations of the SCO countries was held on Tuesday at the National Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek. About 200 representatives from the governments, media, cultural institutions, and academic circles of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) participated in the event.

The dialogue participants noted that in the modern world, the destinies of all countries are closely interconnected, while the coexistence of various civilizations based on inclusivity, their exchanges, and mutual learning play an irreplaceable role in the process of modernizing human society. In recent years, the President of the PRC, Xi Jinping, has consistently put forward the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative, providing the international community with important public goods to respond to ongoing changes in the world and to seek solutions to pressing global issues. The SCO consistently regards humanitarian exchanges as an important pillar of its sustainable development, and the member states of the organization carry out extensive practical cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ulan Mamatkanov stated that today the world is experiencing rapid changes in the technological sphere and a profound transformation of the international relations system. In these conditions, it is especially important to conduct substantive dialogue, respect cultural diversity, and jointly seek answers to the challenges of the modern era. According to U. Mamatkanov, Kyrgyzstan consistently supports the principles of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, respect for cultural diversity, and striving for joint development, which form the core of the “Shanghai Spirit”.

As noted by SCO Deputy Secretary-General Piao Yanfan, over 25 years since the founding of the SCO, the member states of the organization have accumulated rich experience in the mutual enrichment of civilizations and have achieved significant results. She expressed hope that all SCO countries will act responsibly, firmly adhere to the principles of equality, mutual respect, mutual admiration, and mutual tolerance, actively promote the strengthening of mutual understanding and friendship among peoples, play a leading role in the preservation and innovative development of civilizations, as well as in advancing dialogue and mutual enrichment of civilizations.

The event included ceremonies launching several joint projects and collective signing of cooperation agreements between the media of SCO countries, as well as a series of roundtable discussions. Participants listened to performers of the Kyrgyz epic “Manas,” visited a digital archaeological exhibition on the ancient Chinese Liangzhu culture, and an art exhibition.

The event was jointly organized by the Press Office of the State Council of the PRC, the SCO Secretariat, the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, the China International Communication Group (CICG), and the Embassy of the PRC in Kyrgyzstan. –0–
