Chengdu, July 8 /Xinhua/ — On Tuesday, a presentation of the potential for trade and economic cooperation between Sichuan Province and Uzbekistan was held in Chengdu, the administrative center of Sichuan Province /Southwest China/.

An official from the Sichuan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Hu Ge, stated that the total volume of imports and exports between Sichuan Province and Uzbekistan in 2025 reached 2.99 billion yuan /approximately 440 million USD/, and Uzbekistan firmly occupies the position of the largest trading partner of Sichuan Province among Central Asian countries.
Both sides regularly organize events to promote industrial cooperation and develop trade and economic ties, which has created a solid foundation and opened up broad opportunities for interaction between them, he added.
Participants of the presentation declared their readiness to take advantage of the opportunities for high-quality development within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative, to effectively utilize cooperation platforms provided through various exhibitions, to expand presence in foreign developing markets, and to facilitate the entry of a greater number of promising industrial sectors, advanced enterprises, and high-quality projects from Sichuan Province into overseas markets, in order to jointly promote trade and economic cooperation between Sichuan Province and Uzbekistan.
In particular, it has become known that the Second International Trade Fair “China /Sichuan/ – Uzbekistan” will open on September 15, 2026, in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. According to Liu Jixian, chairman of the board of Sichuan International Expo Group Co., Ltd., the company organizing the upcoming fair, the company aims to create a platform for openness and cooperation between Sichuan province and Uzbekistan, characterized by resource exchange, complementary advantages, industrial integration, and will be based on the principles of joint construction and shared use.
