This year, specialists urban economy complex more than 550 facades of apartment buildings have been repaired. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.
“Facade renovation is one of the important types of work within the framework of major repairs, as it is not only a basic component of the building’s exterior appearance but also an integral part of the thermal envelope. This year, we will complete the major repair of more than 600 facades in total, of which over 550 are already ready,” noted Petr Biryukov.
A special technology is used for facade restoration, which allows the building to fully regain both its technical characteristics and its original appearance.
Brick facades are always treated with a water-repellent method. This is a modern technology that protects the material from damage caused by temperature fluctuations and high humidity. When repairing painted facades of panel houses, the work is carried out in stages: first, the geometry of the panels is adjusted, then the interpanel joints are sealed. After that, the surface is primed and two layers of paint are applied.
Facades faced with small-sized ceramic tiles are repaired using a polymer-cement mixture applied onto reinforcing meshes. The technology has undergone numerous tests. With such repairs, the facade’s service life is at least 30 years.
The facade paints used are characterized by high vapor permeability, which ensures moisture resistance and helps retain color for a long time.
