According to the project of the Center for Traffic Management (CTM), the traffic scheme on Altufyevskoye Highway has been comprehensively changed at five sections simultaneously. The main changes affected the interchange with the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD), the intersection with the Designed Passage No. 2257, and the section between Khachaturyan and Botanicheskaya streets.

“This year, under the TsODD project, a comprehensive re-marking of Altufyevskoye Highway was carried out. At the interchange with the MKAD, the number of lanes on entrances and exits was increased. According to preliminary calculations by our specialists, the throughput capacity of the exit from the inner side of the MKAD to Altufyevskoye Highway has doubled. Additional dedicated lanes were arranged on other sections, movement trajectories were adjusted, and lane changes and exits from adjacent roads were made more convenient and safer. We continue to improve traffic flow in the capital, as instructed by Sergey Sobyanin within the framework of the transport development strategy until 2030,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

Maxim Liksutov.

At the interchange with the MKAD during periods of heavy traffic, delays occurred at certain entrance and exit ramps. Now, when exiting from the inner side of the MKAD onto Altufyevskoye Highway towards the city center, drivers can use two lanes instead of one.

In the direction heading towards the region, four lanes were made. The right one is intended for exiting to the inner side of the MKAD, the next one — to the outer side, on the third one you can go straight or exit to the outer side of the MKAD, the left one is intended for going straight.

Together with the specialists of the carrier organizer south of Vologodsky Passage, instead of three general lanes, four were arranged, one of which was added for city transport. Traffic on the new dedicated lane will open on October 24.

Another section was modified in the area of the intersection of Altufyevskoye Highway with Projected Passage No. 2257 in the direction towards the region. At the drivers’ request, specialists made the entry trajectory into the left-turn pocket smoother, and after the intersection, they adjusted the guiding road markings. As a result, driving through the intersection has become clearer and more convenient for motorists.

Comprehensive changes have also taken place on the section from Khachaturyan Street to Botanicheskaya Street. In the direction toward the city center, from house 9a to the exit onto the service road of Botanicheskaya Street, a fourth lane has been arranged. Most of this lane is used by buses and electric buses, and at the entry and exit points it helps motorists change lanes without delaying the main flow. The changes have made lane changes and exits from adjacent roads more convenient and safer for motorists.

In the direction towards the region, before the turn onto Novovladykinsky passage, the lane was designated exclusively for right turns to reduce the number of conflict lane changes when exiting from the service road and from Novovladykinsky passage. Then, a section of the designated lane was arranged. This scheme made exiting from the service road and from Novovladykinsky passage more convenient and safe.

Comprehensive re-marking increased the throughput of certain directions at the interchange with the MKAD and made traffic on several sections of Altufyevskoye Highway clearer, more convenient, and safer.
