On October 31, the 4th Moscow Health Volunteer Forum will take place in the capital. The event will bring together thousands of participants: representatives of non-profit organizations, volunteer centers, labor collectives, students, schoolchildren, delegations from the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, and participants of the special military operation.

The organizer is the resource center “Mosvolunteer” with the support of the capital Committee on Public Relations and Youth Policy.

“Volunteering in the field of health care is not just assistance, but a whole culture of support, education, and mutual aid. Volunteers help medical organizations, support patients and their loved ones, and learn skills that may one day save someone’s life. At the forum, everyone will find a direction to their liking and will be able to become part of a large community where each contribution matters. Everyone willing can join at

event website“, — she noted Ekaterina Dragunova, chairman of the Moscow Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy.

This year, the forum is dedicated to two important anniversaries: the 100th anniversary of the Blood Service in Russia and the 10th anniversary of the All-Russian public movement “Medical Volunteers.” The venue will bring together both the first coordinators of the movement and modern teams who have undergone many years of volunteer work. For the first time, medical classes from capital city educational institutions will join the sixth gathering of school medical volunteer squads.

Program for volunteer organizations and specialists

For the second time, the regional first aid championship will be held at the forum, organized by the “Movement of the First” and the Moscow city branch of the Russian Red Cross. Schoolchildren will be able to test their skills and compete for the right to represent the capital at the all-Russian championship. The program includes meetings with chief physicians of city medical institutions, discussions about hospital ministry, donation, assistance to people with limited mobility, medical clowning, and canistherapy: professionals will conduct therapeutic sessions with specially trained dogs. Special attention will be given to laughter therapy: participants will learn how humor and laughter affect physical and mental health. At the “Find Each Other” session, organizations will be able to establish partnerships in volunteer projects in the field of health care.

One of the large parts of the forum will be the “Health Route” exhibition. Guests will see the vehicle of the Moscow city branch of the Russian Red Cross for sanitary transportation of children, will be able to go inside the ambulance and learn about its equipment: artificial lung ventilation devices, defibrillators, and other equipment. Participants will also be introduced to the “Health Bus” project by SberLife Insurance. In addition, the forum will include an award ceremony for volunteers who have contributed to promoting the donor movement.

Events for all guests

Educational and exhibition areas will be open to visitors all day. Participants can look forward to master classes on painting gingerbread ambulance cars, making blankets, juggling, creating postcards and surgical wipes for the front, as well as master classes in learning sign language.

As part of the session “‘Heroes of Our Time’: blood and bone marrow donation,” the head of the blood and its components procurement department at the O.K. Gavrilov Blood Center, transfusiologist Maxim Razumov, as well as the lead analyst of the Federal Bone Marrow Donor Registry of the Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov, Milana Butunts, will speak.

The forum will feature an exhibition by volunteer artists titled “Heroes of Our Time” and present social projects “Kind Masters” and “Silver Tales” for senior volunteers. Muscovites will be able to join the campaign “For the Little and Brave,” bring books for medical institution libraries, as well as craft felt dolls for New Year’s events in hospitals, and learn about volunteer projects by “Mosvolonter.”

Events for young guests

At the “plush” hospital, children will be able to treat a large bear: bandage its paw, take its temperature, call an ambulance, and try on a medical cap. The kids will create illustrations of ambulances and write postcards for the paramedics.

Closer to the end of the forum, the troupe of the youth theater “Zanaves” of the A.S. Puchkov Emergency and Urgent Medical Care Station will perform. The actors will present a musical sketch “As Long As the Heart Beats, We Remember!”, dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

Among the forum participants are representatives Moscow City Department of Health, the Moscow branch of the Russian Red Cross, the All-Russian public movement ‘Medical Volunteers,’ the O.K. Gavrilov Blood Center, the St. Alexius Central Clinical Hospital, the volunteer movements ‘Danilovtsy’ and the non-profit organization ‘Pomogay-ka,’ the social development fund for the media space ‘NUS,’ the medical clowning development center ‘Here With You,’ and other specialized organizations of the Central Federal District.

Many volunteers are not visiting the forum for the first time: once they themselves were just getting acquainted with medical volunteering, and today they inspire others to take the first step.

“Health care volunteers make the city better, pass on knowledge, inspire by personal example, and sometimes this really saves lives. For example, the skill of providing first aid or joining the Federal Register of Bone Marrow Donors. For me, medical volunteering is an important part of life: I have been coming to the forum for several years now with my children, and in my free time from work I educate people on first aid,” shares Ekaterina Mishina, a medical volunteer and bone marrow donor.
