Government of Moscow invites young professionals to a paid internship in the field of information technology “IT City”. About 100 people will get the chance to become part of the team that is creating the digital future of the capital. Applications are accepted until October 21 inclusive, and the internship itself will last from February to July 2027. In the capital Department of Information Technology They explained who can become an intern, how to combine the program with studies, and whether there is a chance to stay on the team after completion.
“The ‘IT City’ internship is not just a line on a resume. Interns complete the program with a ready portfolio and experience solving product tasks of city-wide scale. The internship offers young professionals a unique opportunity to join the work on the capital’s key projects from day one — the mos.ru portal, “Moscow Electronic School“, EMIAS, service Russpass and others,” noted the press service of the Moscow Department of Information Technology.
Get an internship and impact the lives of millions of city residents
Interns receive real tasks and work together with experienced mentors who help them quickly immerse themselves in the profession. Every young specialist sees how their work directly affects the lives of millions of city residents.
Applications can be submitted by senior students and university graduates aged 18 to 35. For the “User Support” direction, senior students and graduates of technical schools and colleges are also accepted, which means the path to the capital’s IT team is open even without a higher education diploma. Work experience in the chosen field is not required: the program is designed, among other things, for those who are just starting their career. It is important to have basic theoretical knowledge and relevant skills, and everything else will be taught on site.
Choose from 10 IT fields and combine with studies
The internship can be combined with studies. The program runs on weekdays during business hours, but a flexible schedule is provided for students. You can choose part-time employment — 20 hours per week — and calmly combine the program with your studies. Some teams are ready to consider interns specifically for part-time work, so you can earn your diploma and gain real professional experience simultaneously.
The registration is completely official. A fixed-term employment contract is concluded with the trainee. The internship is recorded in the work book from the first day, and the salary is paid twice a month.
When filling out applications On the career portal, the candidate indicates the primary field and a second priority field. The selection stages correspond to the primary choice. It is important that only one application can be submitted per recruitment cycle, so the choice should be made thoughtfully. The internship covers 10 IT fields, including business analysis, development, and information security.
You can apply from anywhere, provided that during the internship you need to be in Moscow. The work format is usually hybrid: part of the week in the office, part from home, but it all depends on the chosen team. At first, the internship mostly takes place in the office — this way newcomers adapt more quickly to the tasks and working with mentors.
To pass the selection and remain in the Moscow Government after the internship
The program lasts six months. Upon its completion, interns may receive an offer for permanent employment with the Moscow Government. If no open positions are available in the internship team, the candidate may be offered options in other departments.
The selection process takes place in several stages. First, you need to fill out an application form on the career portal. Then there will be an online test that assesses motivation and cognitive abilities. After the test, candidates face a specialized task that will be conducted online or in person (depending on the direction) and will allow them to demonstrate practical skills. The final stage is a meeting with the manager, where you can learn about the tasks awaiting interns in the team and talk about yourself. To facilitate smooth integration into the work environment, newcomers are assisted by chatbots and automated adaptation plans — so on the first day, no one is left alone with a flood of unfamiliar information.
Apply their knowledge to the development of the capital
Since August, participants of the eighth cohort of the program have been undergoing internships. 104 people have already engaged in work on city projects and are sharing their first impressions.
“I am glad that I will be able to dive into data analytics specifically in the Government of Moscow. It’s great that I will be able to help Muscovites feel more comfortable, and for the capital to remain among the most digital cities in the world. For me, an internship in the Department of Information Technology is a chance to meet true professionals and learn from their experience,” said Mikhail Karsakov, a participant in the “IT City” program.
