In the Ivanovskoe area in the east of Moscow, construction of the tram line along Entuziastov Highway from Stalevarov Street to 3rd Vladimirskaya Street is ongoing. More than 20 percent of the work has been completed. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction. Vladimir Efimov.
“We continue large-scale work to improve the transport framework in the eastern part of the city. In August, traffic was opened on the interchange at the intersection of Enthusiasts Highway with Svobodny Prospect and Bolshoy Kupavensky Drive. This allowed optimizing traffic flows for the implementation of a dedicated tram line in Ivanovsky, which will partially run under the constructed overpass. The length of the line will be about four kilometers, and its construction will improve the transport situation for residents of the district. Within the project, we will also arrange a turning loop for trams and erect a terminal station building, which will become part of the emerging transfer hub. Currently, the construction readiness of the line is 23 percent,” noted Vladimir Efimov.
There will be five stops along the line. Thanks to raised platforms, it will be easier for passengers with limited mobility to board and alight from the tram. At the terminus on Stalevarov Street, there will be a transfer point to city and suburban bus routes, and a rest building will be constructed for drivers. Currently, specialists are carrying out earthworks, laying engineering networks, and installing tram tracks. Construction of the terminal station building is proceeding simultaneously. This was reported by the head of the Department of Construction of Transport and Engineering Infrastructure of the city of Moscow. Vasily Desyatkov.
Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin said that the main construction work on tram line It is planned to be completed by the end of the year in the district. It will connect Ivanovskoye with the historic city center.
“The new tram line will become an important part of the transport framework of eastern Moscow. It will provide residents of Ivanovskoe with convenient connections to the metro, MCC, and MCD, and thanks to the dedicated route, the trips will become faster and more comfortable. In addition, the opening of new routes will help redistribute passenger flows and increase the accessibility of urban transport for residents of the district. By order of Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to develop the tram network as an important part of urban transport and create new convenient connections between the districts of the capital,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
