In the Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo district along the Moscow River embankment, the improvement of the city embankment at Volokolamskoye highway, properties 93–97, continues. The length of the new walking route will be 1.2 kilometers. Here, the construction of an amphitheater has been completed and a recreational space has been organized, already accessible to the district residents. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Policy and Construction. Vladimir Efimov.
The waterfront area along the Moscow River will become a landscaped park that will connect the neighboring residential quarters. In the central part of the walking route, there is an entrance area with an amphitheater, a rest area, and the main pier.
“The new promenade space along the Moscow River will be organized as a multi-level system: the upper route with granite cobblestone paths will be arranged for walks and jogging, the lower level will be equipped with viewing platforms and access to the water, sheltered with wooden decking. Some of the work has already been completed: walking paths, stairways, rest areas, and a central zone with a large amphitheater have appeared on the shore. The entire embankment improvement cycle is planned to be completed by 2027,” said Vladimir Efimov.
One of the main points of the route is the observation deck. Tables are installed there: you can have a small picnic, work in the fresh air, or play board games. Wooden platforms with loungers are located almost right by the water, offering panoramic views.
The pier itself is made two-level — on top there is a canopy installed, which will protect walkers during bad weather. In addition, all constructions of the park — piers, stairs, pedestrian decks, benches and other furniture for relaxation — will be made from larch, covered with a silvering solution so that they can serve the residents of the area for a long time.
The second stage involved creating a system of routes along the Moskva River at different levels, extending more than a kilometer. For longer walks and jogs, a path made of granite cobblestones was established here. Closer to the water, there is a more intimate forest trail with wooden decks, small observation balconies, and shaded resting spots. More than 1,900 trees have been preserved here, and an additional approximately 100 new willows, pines, and oaks are planned to be planted. Juniper, hazel, and moisture-loving plants typical of the coastal strip will also appear.
Alongside the landscaping work, the hidden treasures of the park are being evaluated. In collaboration with the capital’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Specialists from the A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences studied soil biota by collecting 60 soil samples.
“The obtained data will form the basis of the soil biological quality index: it will show how resilient local ecosystems are to stressors. This will allow, in particular, to adjust visitor routes or carry out targeted restoration activities to preserve soil functionality and its natural functions,” she noted
Yulia Urozhayeva, head of the Department of Environmental Management and Environmental Protection of the city of Moscow.
The improvement of the embankment is being carried out as part of the residential complex construction project and is under the supervision of MosgorsstroyNadzor. According to the head of the agency Anton Slobodchikov, the territory will be accessible to both residents of nearby new buildings and other townspeople. Under four current permits, construction is underway on 22 buildings in the complex, totaling 4,506 apartments. Committee inspectors have already conducted 43 on-site inspections, during which they assessed the compliance of the completed work volume with the project documentation requirements and architectural and urban planning solutions.
For the comfort of city residents, a navigation system has been developed that will allow you to see the oldest trees, learn interesting facts about the area, or assess the slope height using signs on the stairs.
When developing the concept, great attention was paid to creating natural lighting. To this end, a minimum regulatory illumination level was provided, which, on the one hand, ensures visitor safety, and on the other, does not disrupt the existing ecosystem.
