Several regions will receive additional funding for one-time compensations to doctors and medical personnel for work in rural areas, urban-type settlements, and small towns. An order for the additional allocation of more than 303 million rubles for these purposes was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Funds will be directed to 18 regions where such support is most in demand. These are Adygea, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Khakassia, Krasnodar, Perm and Primorsky Krais, Astrakhan, Bryansk, Volgograd, Kirov, Leningrad, Ryazan, Saratov, Smolensk, Yaroslavl Oblasts and the Jewish Autonomous Region, as well as the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.

“This will enable the recruitment of about 500 medical professionals — doctors, paramedics, nurses, and midwives — into healthcare organizations in rural areas, small towns, and remote villages. The quality and accessibility of care for residents of these territories will improve,” noted Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting with the deputy prime ministers on September 14.

He emphasized that the Government will continue to do everything necessary so that citizens in all corners of the country can receive qualified and timely medical treatment.

Compensation payments are provided to medical workers under the existing programs “Zemsky Doctor” and “Zemsky Feldsher.” Physicians and mid-level specialists participating in them receive a one-time compensation ranging from 500 thousand to 2 million rubles depending on their education level and the specific employment region. Both programs were extended until 2030 at the President’s initiative.
