This year, the specialty “software development and management” became the most popular among IT fields in Moscow colleges. In total, over six thousand first-year students were admitted to these fields, the press service reported. capitalDepartment of Education and Science.
“This year, 16 city colleges introduced a specialty in software development and management for the first time. It immediately attracted great interest among applicants — over 1,700 young people enrolled in it. Among other in-demand IT fields are ensuring information security of automated systems and integrating solutions using AI technologies. Students master advanced technologies and tools, create their own applications and websites, and intern at leading IT companies,” the department’s press service noted.
The new specialty “software development and management” has been formed with the participation of market-leading companies: Sber, VKontakte, SKB Kontur, F6, VR Concept, Code Security, NIITS Telecom, and others.
In September, more than a thousand first-year students studying programming will visit the offices of the IT holding company T1 and Yandex. The students will see how the companies operate, get acquainted with the corporate culture and the product development process, learn what programmers’ tasks consist of, and how the full development cycle takes place.

Ksenia Agruseva is a third-year student at the Moscow College of Business Technologies and works as a technical support engineer at MTS Web Services. Her job is to help users deal with system malfunction problems. She finds the causes of defects in specialized databases and then resolves these issues.
“Over two years in practical college classes, I gained all the necessary knowledge that helped me secure a job. I learned to use SQL — the Structured Query Language: now I confidently write queries for the correct selection of subscribers and filtering by the required categories. And understanding the Linux operating system helps me to handle incidents: I analyze events, identify triggers for SMS mailings, and diagnose problems at the level of system processes. I plan to continue developing in my beloved profession,” Ksenia said.
Valentina Matveeva graduated this year from the Information Technology College “IT. Moscow.” On the recommendation of a teacher, she took a position as a junior engineer at one of the leading companies in the IT field. Her tasks include configuring remote access and secure tunnels, administering workstations, promptly troubleshooting computer equipment, as well as installing and supporting specialized enterprise services. Valentina continues to develop in her chosen field. She enrolled in the National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” in the program “Business Informatics,” plans to gradually shift from a technical role to project management, and dreams of becoming a project manager.
Roman Kornienko graduated this year from College of Communications No. 54 named after P.M. Vostrukhin. He is a mid-level developer at ‘Coderline,’ a company specializing in automating business processes using 1C. The college employment center helped him find a vacancy. Currently, the young specialist works on projects for major clients and assists interns.
Artem Vasin graduated from Entrepreneurship College No. 11 in 2025. He currently heads the Information Technology department at the partner company for production risk management “SUPR.” The young specialist works with the “Honest Sign” product marking system, automates warehouse processes and the transition to electronic waybills, integrates new solutions, including artificial intelligence, into the local information system, and also develops IT products and services for clients. To develop his competencies, he regularly participates in industry competitions, including those organized by Kaspersky Lab and the Astra group of companies. Artem shared that during his studies at the college he became interested in the profession, gained a solid knowledge base and skills that he currently applies in his work. He addresses tasks related to automation, integration, and the implementation of modern IT technologies.
