Specialists urban utility complex they will restore and repair the facades of the historical complex “House on the Embankment” in the city center. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.
“The historic residential complex on Serafimovich Street (house 2) was built in 1931 based on a design by Boris Iofan. Over the years, the facades have sustained damage, so a decision was made to carry out restoration and repairs. The total area of the work will exceed 44 thousand square meters, and we plan to complete it next year,” noted Petr Biryukov.
As part of the project, specialists will fully preserve the architectural and cultural value of the building and restore the original surface texture. The deteriorated plaster layer will be removed and replaced with a new one. The use of modern restoration materials and technologies will increase the strength and durability of the walls. The finishing will be done using terrazzo plaster technology, which imitates the rough surface of natural stone. Special attention will be paid to restoring the original color scheme to bring the building’s appearance as close as possible to its original historical look.
The head of the city utilities complex emphasized that the restoration of decorative elements is planned — the belt, sandriks, and cornices. New window sills will be installed on the building, balconies, the plinth, and entrance groups will be put in order. In addition, a new drainage system will be installed, and metal structures — grilles, gates, wickets — will be updated.
