Private shelters have gained the ability to post animal profiles in the service “Mospitometz” on mos.ru. At the time of launch, it featured 813 profiles of dogs and cats from city shelters, and now their number has grown to 1,500.
There are 13 city shelters operating in Moscow, where the health and comfort of several thousand dogs and cats are cared for daily. All pets are vaccinated, chipped, and fully ready to move to a family.
In order to post questionnaires, the shelter must be located in Moscow and meet the the procedure for organizing the activities of such institutions on the territory of the capital and complied with a number of rules.

The largest private shelter in Russia, “Murkosha,” which houses about 500 cats of various breeds and ages, has already joined the service. Upon admission, all animals undergo a veterinary examination: they are treated for parasites, vaccinated, microchipped, and issued a veterinary passport. Newcomers are also placed in quarantine for at least 21 days. After the necessary procedures, they begin looking for a family for the pets.

In October 2025, at the initiative of the capital city urban utilities complex and the capital’s Department of Information Technology A service called “Mospet” has appeared on mos.ru. This is the first project of its kind, digitizing and simplifying the process of finding homes for stray dogs and cats.
“Mospitomec” is aimed at fostering a culture of responsible attitudes towards animals and assisting city residents who have decided to give a home to a four-legged friend. Thanks to it, more than 1,900 animals have found families.
Each ward’s profile card in the service catalog contains their photo, listed age, size, and character traits. Additionally, there is a test available to determine which animal will suit a future owner. All shelter pets are microchipped and vaccinated.
After the prospective owner selects an animal and fills out an electronic form, shelter staff will contact them to arrange a convenient time for a meeting. If after the meeting the person decides to take the pet home, they will be asked to sign a responsible ownership agreement outlining the owner’s rights and obligations. The prospective owner has three days to make a final decision and prepare for the animal’s arrival at the new home.
