In the capital, applications have begun to be accepted for the “Volunteer of Moscow” distinction for significant contributions to the development of the volunteer movement. City organizations can nominate candidates until September 30, it was reported Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.
“Moscow supports volunteer initiatives and projects representing a wide range of directions — from patriotic and social to cultural and sports. Since the award was established four years ago, 190 people have already received it,” said Natalia Sergunina.
The finalists will be determined by the expert council on grants, charity, and volunteering of the Moscow Public Chamber. It will consider the overall experience, the number of volunteer hours, and the significance of the events in which the volunteer participated.
Only legal entities can nominate candidates: non-profit organizations, educational institutions, companies, government bodies, and others. The application form and requirements for candidates are published on the capital’s page Committee on Public Relations and Youth Policy on the city portal mos.ru.

Reward for the caring
The honorary badge “Volunteer of Moscow” was established in 2022. Previously, it was awarded annually to 30 Muscovites, but starting in 2025, up to 100 people may receive the award. In addition to increasing the number of laureates, three degrees have been introduced. To qualify for the first degree, one must have at least five years of volunteer experience, for the second — from three years, and for the third — from one year.
Among those already awarded the first-degree badge of distinction is Tatyana Rogozina, a volunteer with 10 years of experience. She began her volunteer journey by helping at a charity run. Patriotic events hold special significance for her: she has participated twice in organizing the Victory Parade on Red Square.
Another awardee, Zakhar Pertsev, is convinced that one cannot remain indifferent to the misfortune of others. Having become involved in volunteering during his school years, he is now actively engaged in collecting humanitarian aid, conducting master classes on weaving camouflage nets and making bunker candles for fighters in the special military operation.
Volunteer community of the capital unites Already more than 1.7 million Muscovites, and over 140 thousand people have joined since the beginning of the year alone. The citizens participate in organizing patriotic events and large international forums, help those supported by charitable foundations and elderly people, donate blood at donor centers, and care for animals from shelters.
