Geelong /Sichuan/, August 30 /Xinhua/ — Communication signal reception has been ensured in the main rescue area near the Geelong border checkpoint in the Sichuan Autonomous Region /Southwest China/, affected by a mudslide. This information was confirmed by local authorities on Sunday.
The head of the regional communications department, Nima Tobgyal, told a Xinhua correspondent that telephone contact has already been established with the rescuers stationed in the Gyirong checkpoint area using the recently constructed communication base station.
