The 28th season at the Vedogon Theatre, overseen by the city’s Department of Culture, will open on September 11 with the premiere of a play “Old-fashioned comedy” based on the play by Aleksei Arbuzov. The key event will be the fourth theater festival “Theater+Science” with a creative laboratory. The project is being carried out with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and will bring together scientists from Zelenograd and young representatives of the theater sphere. For six months, they will create theatrical sketches dedicated to modern domestic scientific developments and research.
The organizing committee will select 30 participants: three scientists and nine representatives from various creative fields. They will undergo an educational program with online meetings with experts in the fields of science and art, after which teams will be formed by drawing lots.
Each team will include a playwright, director, artist, and scientist. Together, they will develop the concept of a theatrical sketch based on a scientific theme and present it at an in-person pitching session before an expert committee. Based on the selection results, three finalist teams will proceed to the production work on the stage of the “Vedogon Theatre” together with professional actors.
Citizens of Russia aged 18 to 35 inclusive are invited to participate: scientists and researchers of the Zelenograd scientific cluster, ready to present their developments as a basis for theatrical expression, as well as directors, playwrights, artists, and senior students of relevant fields.

The culmination of the project will be a public showing of three theatrical sketches on the main stage of the theater, each lasting up to 20 minutes. It will take place on February 20, 2027, and will conclude with an open discussion with the audience.
In addition, in August, the theater’s artists will conduct a series of educational intensives for children and adults: a nine-day practicum for teenagers aged 12–15 and two two-day courses — “PRO Speech” and “Speak Freely”.
The “Vedogon Theatre” will also continue implementing the “Art Exchange” program, under which it hosts groups from other theaters on its stage and plans touring and festival trips across cities in Russia.
Last season, the theater premiered five new productions, held a multi-age New Year’s campaign for the first time, organized anniversary evenings for the artists, and made five trips to festivals and tours. Ensembles from Moscow and other Russian cities performed on stage.
