The geography of the “Mosproducer Playlist | Music in the Parks” project continues to expand. This season, Belgorod joined the musical map. The project’s compositions now play in three parks at once: “Berega,” Victory Park, and the Belgorod City Park of Culture and Leisure named after V.I. Lenin.
“Over 10 years, the project has received more than 18 thousand applications, 2367 participants reached the finals, and more than a thousand performers became winners. During this time, musicians from 253 cities and 31 countries have joined the project. For us, it is important that ‘Mosproducer Playlist’ remains an open platform for independent authors and gives them the opportunity to present their music to a wide audience. Today, the project’s music not only plays in city spaces year-round but also becomes one of the entry points into the Mosproducer music project ecosystem,” noted Ekaterina Yankina, director of the Moscow Production Center.
Today, the music of the winners sounds across an area of more than 1.4 thousand hectares — over 1,250 hectares in Moscow, more than 46 hectares in the Moscow region, and about 38 hectares in other regions of Russia.
The initiative brings together original music from a wide range of performers — from niche and independent artists to stars. The project’s goal is to take musicians’ creativity beyond online platforms. Thanks to it, compositions become part of the urban landscape and accompany visitors of parks and public spaces daily. This summer season, music is playing at 21 venues in Moscow, the Moscow region, and other regions of the country.
In Moscow, the compositions can be heard in the parks “Fili”, “Sokolniki”, Babushkinsky and Izmailovsky parks, the “Hermitage” garden, the Vorontsovo estate, the Mitino landscape park, and other city venues. In the Moscow region, the project covered Shatura, Shchelkovo, Monino, Fryanovo, and Roshal, and beyond the metropolitan area — the city of Volzhsky.
For the convenience of listeners, 20 branded signs with QR codes have been placed in the capital’s parks. It is enough to scan them to listen to the playlist on your device, as well as save favorite tracks to your personal audio library.
In the 21st season, more than 1,200 applications were submitted to participate in the project, from which experts selected 51 compositions for the summer playlist. At the same time, the genre palette is noticeably changing: in recent seasons, the share of hip-hop, rap, as well as folk and ethnic music has been growing. In addition, musicians are increasingly experimenting with new technologies. For instance, this year one of the tracks created with the help of artificial intelligence reached the expert listening stage, although it did not make it into the final playlist.
Among the new participants of the season is the Moscow band “Polyn Folk” with the track “Kosy”. The group weaves archaic chants with current musical trends and actively tours the country, drawing on folk culture in their creative work. The duo “Beloluna” from Sochi presented the composition “Summer,” where electronic sounds and house intertwine with ethnic motifs. The musicians draw inspiration from ancient legends and reinterpret Russian folklore in a dance format. Another bright participant is the Moscow artist Ivan with the pop composition “Now.” His style is dramatic pop-rock sound. The artist’s monthly audience on streaming platforms exceeds 250 thousand listeners, and in his creative biography is participation in the TV projects “The Voice,” “Battle of Talents,” and “Musicasting.”
Alongside young performers, the project traditionally features artists well known to a wide audience. Among the winners of previous seasons are Mari Kraimbrery, M’Dee, Kosmonavtov Net, YAAV, Grizzly, and Leonid Agutin. In recent years, playlists have also included Max, Moya Mishel, The Nia, Thomas Mraz, Vassa Zheleznova, hehehe, Bazar, Isaeva, and Mayot. Such a balance between new names and established musicians helps the project reflect the full diversity of the contemporary scene.
Moscow Production Center, subordinate to Department of Culture of the City of Moscow, has been producing its own projects for musicians, artists, theatre figures, and other representatives of contemporary art since 2014. Mosproducer creates projects that integrate into the urban infrastructure and are implemented at the largest venues in the capital, as well as forming unique systems for promoting creativity to audiences of thousands.
