The festival at VDNKh is coming to an end “Tastes of Russia”, which is conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation jointly with the Moscow city Government as part of the project “Summer in Moscow”. On August 23, at the Rosselkhozbank venue, master classes on creating the “Tastes of Russia” magnet will be held at 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Participants will paint branded blanks dedicated to regional products of the country. At 2:00 PM, there will be a matryoshka painting session. Wooden figures can be decorated with traditional ornaments or adorned with images of fruits and vegetables. At 4:00 PM, a master class on apron decoration will take place. Guests will apply ornaments and drawings inspired by the gastronomic traditions of various parts of Russia onto the fabric.
At 5:00 PM, a workshop is scheduled where children and adults can paint a mug with regional patterns or images of Russian products: fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and other gastronomic symbols. Each session will last from 20 to 40 minutes, and groups of up to 12 people will allow the instructors to pay attention to each participant.
For young visitors, a tractor rally has been organized next to the Rosselkhozbank stand. Children aged five to twelve, up to 140 centimeters tall and weighing up to 40 kilograms, can try their hand at being tractor drivers. The duration of one race is two minutes, participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
For families with children, there is a science zone prepared by the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute” and the Polytechnic Museum. Under the guidance of mentors, kids conduct experiments in chemistry, physics, and biology, can create a chemical rainbow, and extract DNA from strawberries and bananas. The area is open from 10:00 to 22:00.
Chef Show and Wine Tastings
At the Petelinka brand venue, chef Oleg Rybakov is hosting a series of gastronomic shows. At 1:00 PM, he will prepare the “Petersburg” salad, at 3:00 PM he will share the recipe for Sochi romshteks with golden-brown eggplants, and at 5:00 PM — Voronezh medallions with sage. Visitors will be able not only to watch the cooking process but also to learn the secrets of the author’s cuisine.
The company “Magnit” has prepared an entertainment program with a tasting of its own products, workshops on face painting and polymer clay modeling for children, as well as gifts for active participants.
On the festival’s last day, the “Vineyard” fair will offer visitors lectures, sports activities, and tastings of Russian wines. More than 30 producers are showcasing their products — from large estates to small local wineries. You can also find gastronomic pairings for the showcased drinks here.
From Kamchatka fern to Tula gingerbread
Until the end of the festival, visitors will also be able to purchase unusual products from the regions. For example, the stalls feature candied pine cones from Khakassia, Königsberg marzipan, “Tilsiter” cheese from the Kaliningrad region, reindeer meat from Vorkuta, Kamchatka fern, and many other delicacies. Cheese dairies from Adygea, Crimea, Altai, and the Moscow region offer a wide selection of cheeses — from classic to artisanal with the addition of herbs and spices.
Among the fish products are Murmansk-style cod liver, Magadan shrimp, as well as canned and preserved goods from the Arctic and Far Eastern seas. Sweets lovers can try Penza maple syrup, Perm honey sbiten, Tver candies, Ural candied rhubarb and pine cones in chocolate, as well as Tula gingerbread and Kolomna pastila.
