Partial modernization of the exhibition will begin at the Museum of Cosmonautics on August 31. The halls “Space House in Orbit,” “Exploration of the Moon and Other Planets of the Solar System,” “Cosmonautics for Humanity,” “International Space Park,” and “International Cooperation in Space” will be closed to visitors.
From August 31 to September 11, you can visit the rooms with the collection of author dolls “We will take you to the museum…” and “Morning of the space age,” as well as the cinema hall and the planetarium. In addition, guests will be able to view the new exhibition “Star of designer Guy Severin” in the “Creators of the Space Age” hall and paintings by cosmonaut Alexei Leonov in the “History and Culture of the Space Era” hall.
The modernization will affect one of the main halls of the “Space House in Orbit” museum. Its color scheme will change. Along the entire length, a unique 80-meter frieze will be installed, featuring a large graphic depiction of the stages of development of domestic cosmonautics. More than 50 previously unexhibited artifacts of space history will be displayed in the showcases. The exhibition will be supplemented by composite panels that will reveal important pages of cosmonautics history in a new way. Interactive panels will show unique footage of cosmonauts working on space stations and in open space. The central interactive element of the exhibition will be a screen dedicated to the modern achievements of the Russian space program.
From September 1 to 11, the Museum of Cosmonautics will open an exclusive program “Road to the Rocket” for guests. It will take place as part of a combined tour for those who decide to purchase it on site, and as part of an overview tour for those who bought it ticket in advance.
Visitors will learn about the first steps of humanity in outer space, as well as about the monument “To the Conquerors of Space,” on the stylobate of which the museum is located. The tours will include visiting the first hall “The Morning of the Space Era” and a walk near the monument itself. The guides will provide detailed information about the beginning of space exploration, the history of the architectural monument, explain the scenes on the monument’s bas-relief, and even show a special place for making wishes.
A reduced price will apply in limited exhibition mode for admission tickets.
The Museum of Cosmonautics in Moscow is one of the largest scientific and technical museums in Russia. Its history began in 1964, when the monument “To the Conquerors of Space” appeared on the map of Moscow. The modern exhibition consists of eight exhibition halls. The museum’s collection includes more than 110,000 storage units, including samples of rocket and space technology, tangible relics, documents, philately, numismatics, items of decorative and applied art, collections of painting and graphics.
